Ben Roethlisberger… Sexual Predator or Bad Drunk?
The investigation into Ben Roethlisbergers alleged sexual assault case in will likely continue throughout the week. And while we all anxiously await word from the Milledgeville Police, one thing is already painfully clear Big Ben is starting to look a big dummy and a total creep!
NFL Overtime Rules “Under Review”
The NFL is finally considering a change to their long outdated overtime rules. The news is music to many football fans ears except when you dig a little deeper. The competition committee is suggesting overtime be changed only for playoff games okay, so far, so good and that both teams get at least one offensive possession all right, even better unless the first team scores a touchdown. Then its game over. Ridiculous, right? Both teams need at least one offensive possession, regardless of what the first team does. Anything short of that is simply unfair. But the NFL is concerned about ...
Team USA Blows “Golden” Opportunity
I guess we all knew how this one was going to end even before it began with Canada winning the Gold Medal in Hockey. But damn, it was a great game! And once the US tied it up with 24 seconds left in regulation, I honestly thought we were going to steal it away. But Sidney Crosby made sure that wasnt going to happen not on his watch, anyway.
Randy Moss Talking Himself Out Of New England
Entering the last year of his current contract, New England Patriots star wide receiver Randy Moss said at a charity softball event that the upcoming season would be his last in New England. He said he would be playing elsewhere in 2011 due to the economics of the game and the track record of the Patriots with veteran players. Now I dont know about you, but to me, thats one of the stupidest things Ive ever heard unless his intent was to ruffle managements feathers so he would get released and play elsewhere in 2010??? Then again, with Wes Welkers ...
Curling Kicks Ass!
The Winter Olympics are in full swing, and so far it looks like Team USA is running away with the Medal Count. Despite the amazing feats by Apollo Ohno, Bodie Miller and the US Mens Hockey Team, I find myself captivated, by of all things Curling. Im so into it that I dont want the Olympics to end. If DirecTV had a Curling Package, lets say it was called Extra Ends, I would so be a subscriber. But sadly, after the 27th, Ill likely have to wait another four years to get my fix.
Tiger Woods… Still A Douchebag!
For the first time in months, Tiger Woods stepped in front of a camera and addressed the nation. But sadly, his performance left much to be desired. Sure, he apologized and admitted he had more work to do in repairing his marriage. But very little of what he said came across as sincere and genuine. Many praised him for what he did Charlie Rymer of the Golf Channel even choked up afterward on the air. Some said he looked robotic, but to me, he just looked like a guy who could barely read. Most of all, though, his unwillingness to ...
Archie & Eli Secretly Love Saints Super Bowl Victory
I know I should be pleased with myself picking New Orleans to win, but Im still having a tough time coming to terms with the idea of the Saints as Super Bowl Champs. What's next, the Detroit Lions? I'm sure Peyton feels terrible throwing that pick-six, but something tells me Archie and Eli werent too upset about it. Keeps Peyton''s head from getting any bigger than it already is.
Brooklyn Decker Should Thank Dan Patrick
Brooklyn Decker was named the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Model on last nights Late Show with David Letterman. And though Dave gets all the credit, Brooklyn should really be thanking Dan Patrick. Sports Illustrated knows the power Dan wields over sports fans the world over, and wisely chose one of his favorite swimsuit models for this years honor. The edition hits newsstands Wednesday, and the cover will surely make it on Dans wall of morale soon after. PS... Here's a sweet pic of McLovin from the Dan Patrick Show partying in Vegas with Swimsuit model Anne V.
Best & Worst Commercials From Super Bowl XLIV
When I was young girl, the Super Bowl almost always sucked. Year after year we were stuck with one blow out after another. But at least the commercials made up for the terrible games. Now it seems like we get great Super Bowls year in and year out, but somewhere along the line, the commercials have gone to hell.
The Sweet Science: Mayweather / Mosley
It may not be the fight we were hoping for a few weeks ago, but it should still be a good one. After years of flirting with the idea, Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather jr. has agreed to fight Sugar Shane Mosley on May 1st at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Dwight Freeney… Ticket To Saints Victory!
Its Super Bowl week, and all eyes are on Dwight Freeney more specifically, Dwight Freeneys Ankle. The super stud Defensive End hasnt practiced since injuring his ankle in the AFC Championship Game, and no one is certain whether he will be able to play in the Super Bowl. The Sports Report Girl offers her thoughts, along with her Super Bowl Pick!
How To Fix The Pro Blow… I Mean Pro Bowl
Okay, enough is enough its time the NFL fixed the Pro Bowl once and for all. And Im using the word fix in the most Sopranos-esque manner possible. Its time the NFL iced the Pro Bowl. No one cares about a meaningless football game played at half speed. Which is why they should replace the Pro Bowl with a series of fun Skills Challenges.
Arenas & Crittenton Banned For Season
Gilbert Arenas is still waiting to hear the full extent of his fate, but that's not the case with Javaris Crittenton. The Wizards guard reached a plea deal with prosecutors that was accepted by the judge, resulting in one year's worth of unsupervised probation. As for Arenas, he's still waiting to get setenced... but seeing as how he was charged with a felony, it certainly won't be as soft of a punishment. Either way, Commisioner Stern threw the league book at booth, banning them for the remainder of the season!
Bruins & Red Wings Blow Ass!
What's the deal with the Boston Bruins and Detroit red Wings? Last year these were two of the most polific scoring teams in the NHL... but this year, they're both dead last in their respective conferences. Goal Tending and Defense has been decent, so they both have a chance to get their acts together and make a run for the playoffs. Hope the Olympic break doesn't mess up their continuity. Then again, the way they've been playing, that might not be such a bad thing!
Brett Favre Has To Come Back
After another interception prevents Brett Favre's return to the Super Bowl, talk has (of course) turned to the inevitable... Will he or won't he retire? And at this point, after what we've seen from him the past couple years, the safe money should be on him returning for one last shot. But something has me wondering this time if he isn't ready to say goodbye for the last time. Even without a trip to the Super Bowl, he couldn't ask for a better season than the one he had, and the odds of him repeating that are pretty slim. So ...
The 2010 NFL Playoffs Suck!
This time of year is usually a second Christmas for me. But this year the Wild Card Round blew (except for one game) as did the Divisional round. So what gives? Why the sucky playoffs this year? Whatever the reason, I'm not feeling too good about our prospects for an exciting Super Bowl.
Clint Dempsey’s Injury Not As Bad As First Feared
The US National Team's World Cup prospects suffered another major setback with the knee injury suffered by Clint Dempsey over the weekend. The full extent of the damage won't be known until the results from an MRI come back, but preliminary signs don't look good.
Mark McGwire, Pete Carroll & Lane Kiffin Walk Into A Bar…
In the last seven days we have seen some of the craziest sports stories of the new year... from Mark McGuire finally admitting to his use of steroids during his chase of the homerun record in '98, to the coaching carousel in Seattle, Southern California and Knoxville.
Mike Leach… An American Football Tragedy!
Adam James may well be the poor character kid Mike Leach portrayed in his recent statements with the press... but it still doesn't justify locking him up in a closet or shed. And for that lapse in judgement, Mike Leach's coaching career in college is almost certainly over. At least with respect to any programs that actually matter.
Looks Like The Joke’s On Gilbert Arenas!
Hey everyone, nothing to worry about as Gilbert Arenas and Javarus Crittenton were only joking around... well, at least Arenas was. And the guns weren't even loaded, so really, there's nothing to worry about. Right? Someone wanna tell David Stern that? Or maybe he did himself with that "Guns Up" salute before last night's game. Way to go, Gilbert! Way to go!
The Sweet Science… Mayweather/Pacquiao Mediation Continues
The principle parties from Top Rank and Golden Boy spent nine hours on Tuesday at the mediator's table. No deal was struck, but it looks like they aren't giving up just yet.
Redskins Fire Jim Zorn, Return His Balls
Months after suffering a public emasculation, Jim Zorn was fired on what is commonly known around the NFL as Black Monday. And through no one would have blamed him if her weren't, Zorn remained a good soldier to the very end. Poor guy...
College Football Coaching News
The Sports Report Girl takes a look at some recent coaching hires from the world of college football. Brian Kelley and Turner Gill have new jobs, and Jim Harbaugh gets a contract extension, and likely a raise, from Stanford.
Is Tiger Too Tainted Even For Nike?
First Tiger Woods decided he would take an indefinate leave from the PGA Tour... The next day, Gillette put his ad campaign on hold... And the day after that, Accenture dropped him all together. Is the sky falling for Tiger Woods? Can Nike really stand by his side as he sticks his head in the sand?

Dunleavy Done In La La Land
From 2003 to March 2010, there has been a dark cloud of the Los Angeles Clippers….. well, darker than normal. Now there is a time for celebration for Clippers fans all over. Mike Dunleavy was FINALLY relieved of his duties as the Clippers General Manager. Just a little over a month after stepping down as coach he was fired (6 years too late), to... The Academy Awards Of College Basketball
In honor of Sunday’s Academy awards I’ve decided to put together my own college hoops themed Oscars. These are the players, coaches and teams who I think deserved to take home the hardware. Also, anything I can do to get Bruce Pearl to make a speech I am all for. Best Team: Syracuse The Orange really hurt themselves when they lost to Louisville... [Read more of this review]
Violence In Women’s Sports
What in the world is going on in women’s sports today? It’s a given that when there’s a high level of competition, aggressiveness tends to rear its ugly head at times. But lately it seems as if women are becoming just as aggressive as their male counterparts. Sports in general are becoming more sensationalized with a “win at all cost” mentality.... Derek Jeter, Future Hit King?
Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman recently wrote that two executives in baseball believed it’s possible Derek Jeter may be looking for a six year contract at the end of the season when he becomes a free agent. Should that happen, he would be well over 3,000 hits (currently at 2,747) by the end of his contract. At age 42, he may want to retire and... [Read more of this review]
The 5 Most Dangerous Teams in the Country
If you know anything about sports, you know that in single-elimination tournaments the best team isn’t always the one that walks away with the championship. Everyone is making arguments for who the best team in the nation is right now, but that’s not what really matters. What matters is which team can pull a win out of nowhere when it counts. These... 2010 NFL Combine… Starring Tim Tebow!
It’s that time of year again… the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine is going on in Indianapolis. The yearly event features pro prospects at every position running a gauntlet of drills and sprints. From the 40 yard dash to the vertical leap, every hour of this week-long event is televised live (and repeated) on the NFL Network. This year, though, things... [Read more of this review]

Thoughts On The Olympic Hockey Tournament
When the Men’s US Olympic Hockey team was announced following the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day, I have to admit, I wasn’t too impressed. I would have liked to see a little more veteran presence – it’s a very young squad with little Olympic experience, but I should have known better than to doubt Team USA GM Brian Burke. Going a perfect... [Read more of this review]

The Winter Olympics Bring Out The “Bitch” In All Of Us!
The Winter Olympics started this weekend and women all over the world lost their shit. In what can only be described as a mix of a Taylor Swift concert with a Twilight premier combined with Brad Pitt sensibilities, Couples Figure Skaters engaged in the short program this weekend. Husbands, boyfriends, and overzealous single men will be forced to “pay... [Read more of this review]
Around The Association 2-17-10
Well, we are sneaking up to trade deadline time. This usually means a great deal of rumors with most, if not all, never panning out. Some years the trade-deadline-buzz flat out fails to deliver. It is following that same path this year. While talk of Amare to Cleveland or Ray Allen being exiled abound, we are left with some lack luster news. The... [Read more of this review]
